How to Distinguish the Quality of MDF Sound Absorbing Panels

The MDF substrate directly determines the durability and environmental friendliness of the panels, and is the key to quality differences. In terms of density, high-quality panels typically have a density of 800-850 kg/m³, leaving no dent when pressed and resisting deformation when bent. Low-priced, inferior products often have a density below 600 kg/m³, are mostly made from compressed wood chips, and are prone to cracking and moisture absorption. Regarding environmental friendliness, prioritize products with formaldehyde emissions ≤0.05 mg/m³, meeting high domestic and international environmental standards such as E0 and CARB P2, avoiding products with excessive urea-formaldehyde resin content that can cause a pungent odor. Also, pay attention to the substrate treatment process. For moisture-proof applications, choose substrates treated with moisture-proofing agents; for public areas, ensure the substrate has a fire resistance rating of B1 or higher, where only surface carbonization occurs after burning, with no open flame spread.
